Fishing Videos
« on: March 07, 2010, 01:31:01 AM »
Hello all,
I am an avid fisherman and lately I have been eaten up with filming my fishing trips. I have been posting my fishing videos on youtube, mostly because it is an easy way to show my family my fishing trips. I can just send them to my youtube instead of emailing them each video one my one. Recently, I was approached by this website southfloridaoutdoornetwork.com asking me for my video content. Has anyone heard of this site before? I don't know anything about it so I am not sure if I should share my videos with them and I don't know how to tell if its real or not.

Also, does anyone out there video their fishing? What cameras do you use? I am looking for an underwater or waterproof but not sure what to get? I love to film fishing but I am always so nervous when i bring my camera on board. Please let me know any ides you have! Thanks!!

Their site does not look that interesting, maybe they are trying to rip your stuff off from you.

I would stay away.   %3%

Their content is pretty good and appearently they just launched less two weeks ago. Their forum seems like it was just put up today... I didn't notice it before. Maybe I will watch it for a while before I let their editors have my content.

Can you post a link to your videos. I was thinking of getting a camera to video some of my offshore trips.
What I need is a video camera I can mount up high, turn on and off remotely to and view on my electronics monitor.
I need to see some different angles to determine if I need more than on camera to catch the action.

My goal is to capture some exciting offshore action to share with my friends I take on board.

The fishing content is very limited, maybe that is why they want your stuff.

See if they will pay you for using your content on their site.

It looks like it's a new start up site and maybe they are just trying to build it up with other peoples work instead of their own.

I too would be interested in see your videos.  ~`1

I spoke to the person from the South Florida Outdoor Network. He told me that the reason their content is so limited is because their official launch date isn't untill the Palm Beach Boat Show. They are going to be showing a live feed from the show on their forum and they hope to put more content up after that. The other thing is that they only put up 3chip content. It sounds pretty good. I have submitted two of my videos to them, hopefully they will post it. I'll keep you updated!!

I have been using a Cannon gl2, which I think can easily be mounted. Also, I just got a Cannon HD that has a remote... I think you can mount it but I am not sure. We hold all of our cameras so I've never really tried. The HD one is really nice because its small (like palm size) so its easy to carry around with you on the boat.

The forums on the South Florida Outdoor Network are kinda boring. Its so new there are not a lot of people on there. You guys should join so we can talk in both places.

Just saw a cool video of a bonefish on the florida sportsman forum. Does anyone else out there have any sweet videos?

I just use a flip video for the filming.  It's pretty easy to upload to youtube with it.  Depending on the size of the fish, I can sometimes hold the flip in my left hand and fish with my right--but that's usually for smaller fish.  Sometimes I'll draft my daughter into video taping duties for bigger ones.

Still waiting to get great footage though.  Unfortunately, there's nothing like being there and seeing the fish yourself.
