Being relativity new to Florida it been a challenge to learn about fishing here.
Most of the fish here I?ve never seen in California.
I like the climate and warm water  here.
Seems you can catch fish, or at least go fishing 365 days a year.

From just outside of NYC. Moved to KW in '89, moved to Venice in 2000. Benn fishing forever. From freshwater brookies to tarpon to tuna & everything in between.
Have a 17' SeaPro & a 14' Kayak.

Love all types of fishing, from shore and wading to the kayak or boat.

I live here because I hate the cold.

I am a building contractor, so lately I've had more time to fish.
One only needs two tools in life: WD-40 to make things go, and duct tape to make them stop.

I reside in Port Charlotte, Florida.

I'm originally from Arcadia, Florida.

I own a 1986 15' Hydra Sports Bass Boat for now, until I buy a new one soon.

I've fished in a lot of different places here in Florida, mostly Saltwater fishing. I have also have experience in Freshwater, I like both. I statred fishing when I was about 5yrs. old, in a creek behind my grandmothers house. I've caught lots of different species of fish in both fresh & saltwater.

I like fishing here in Florida because no matter what, the weather is almost always beautiful. So even if you go out & don't catch anything, it was still worth it.   ^-^  Also, you have the choice to go fishing in either the Gulf or the Atlantic, each holds different types of fish waiting to be caught! The only thing I hate about living here, is that every year, the snowbirds migrate down here & cause so much clutter. It is hard to enjoy the breeze blowing in your truck window when your going 30mph down a road that's posted at 60mph, because your stuck behind grandpa that thinks the world revoles around him & his time.   @!@!   Then, when you go out on the water, you get people from up north that think they own the water too!   ##  I could go on forever about how much I hate that! As far as the good stuff goes, I love it!!!   ~`

I?m one of those dreaded snowbirds. #@**
I have a home and boat here and come seasonally from Nebraska.
I have a home in Englewood and keep my Jon boat on a trailer.
Hopefully soon I will retire and live here full time. ~`
No I have never taken any of the Florida boating classes, I did complete the one Boat-US offers online.
I like saltwater fishing, from my boat or kayak.

To make it clearer about my post, by snowbirds I meant 70-80yr olds that can't see anything, but as long as they respect other people & their time, they are good with me, no matter the age. I just can't stand rude people!   ++><   ##

Hey all..  I'm fairly new to Sw. Florida, moved here to Cape Coral 6 weeks ago from Lebanon Pa. and absolutly love it here..  Most of my fishing exp. comes from the state of delaware..  All but grew up in Rehoboth Beach, had my first boat at age 11..  Currently I have a boat, but it's not suited for fishing down here, more of a speed boat.. Plus it's torn apart at the moment getting rebuilt.. I'm torn on what kind of boat to get for down here..  Would love to get out on the water here to learn alittle bit before getting my other boat..  As for fishing i'd rate myself at about a 4 out of 10, it's way different down here.. Well, I'm new here, This is a great forum!! I'm from just outside Madison Wi. But I own a Lot on a canal in Port Charlotte :A My wife and I visit there often but can't move down yet as we are not old enough to retire and jobs in that area seem to be tight, so we are stuck here working in the cold for a few more years+_). We boat and do some fishing here tho it's nothing like what you have down there!  I have a 16' Glastron with a 90 horse Evinrude. It's great to hear the fishing and boating reports....atho it reminds me of what I'm missing!!

Hey Guys-
Nice to meet you all..  And, nice job with the site, Dave  :A
Most know me as Serg in these parts.
I moved to Port Charlotte 10 years ago from the Boston area.  I traded in the white collar B/S and ran off with a chunk of change and decided to reside here.  You could probably call me a redneck now, and thats just fine.  I usually fish from the piers or off the US 41 bridge.  Occasionally, my friend invites me to go out on his boat and thats where some real actions starts. I caught a beautiful Spanish Mackeral trolling out in Charlotte Harbor easter weekend.  I cant begin to tell you how good it tasted blackened in my stove.  IT was deliscious!   Nice to meet you all and Donahue - I agree with you about the snow-birdy comment

Dave,
I'm enjoying browsing through the site.  Great job.

We are "The Wright Family" (Dusty & Jennie) and we love spending family time outdoors with our boys Charlie and Cooper.  We all absolutely love the water and love fishing.  The boys have become pretty good fisher-dudes.  We live in Minnesota and we come down and visit grandma each late spring in N. Fort Myers.  Started renting a boat out of Bokeelia 4 years ago and we were in heaven!  We have no idea what we're doing, but we're starting to catch some fish on occasion.  Just learning to run the waters was a challenge in itself!  This shallow water stuff is a bit different than our deep water lakes.  I was raised fishing and am trying my best to pass on the same experiences + to my boys.

Dusty
You've got to think lucky. If you fall into a mudhole, check your back pocket - you might have caught a fish!

Nice  ~`6 site you have here Dave  ;~D

Now a little about myself:  I am a fourth generation Floridian  ~`I and grew up  ~`6 off the old 41 bridge in Punta Gorda way back in the late 50's and stone crabbing in El Jobean off the railroad trussels as a child.  I fish every chance I get, lucky for me I live off a private harbour in Ft Myers and just walk out back and toss a line in yesterday I caught a Jack Dempsey in the morning and a 26" snook late afternoon.

Again nice to meet ya'all

Welcome Ladybug and thanks for your kind comments about the website.

Many of the members here are not native Floridians including myself.

Moving here from Los Angeles several years ago were I fished several times a week, I found myself having to learn all over again. New types of fish, new rules, new baits, and “skinny water” all with no one to learn from.

I’m sure we will all benefit from your posts and fishing knowledge.

Just signed up. Moved here in 81 from Allentown Pa. Had a charterboat ,boat rentals and surf shop on Englewood beach from 82 to 2001.  I sold my 30 ft diesel powered Alura in 2006. Retired now with a 16 foot grumman step thru,40 hp mercury ob. Can pull it with my Santa Fe 6 cyl.I specialized in grouper but fished tarpon in Boca  Grande pass on season. Lots of inshore. Now I usually stay inshore or freshwater. Biggest peeve is poor work at marina's . I ,ve used them all in 28 years . Have only 2 favorites.Have 2 daughters-they don't remember how they learned to fish or swim. They think they were born to it.  Capt. Rocky ,age 67 Englewood Fl.

Hi Captain Rocky and welcome.

Sounds like you know these waters very well fishing them for all these years.

You will have to tell one of these days what two shops you like.

My name is Chris and I have lived in Southwest Florida for 35 years (Native Cracker  :)) Started fishing Southwest Florida waters since I can remember and still enjoy it today. Now that I have two kids, it is my turn to pass on what I've been taught by my family to them. A lot has changed in my time here but I don't think I would want to be anywhere else on the planet.

Hi,

My name is Michele.  Single and live in Palm Bay.  I'm originally from Upstate NY...Saratoga Springs area.  Relocated here almost 8 years ago.  (I'm not a snowbird...live here full time.)

I am an established Photographer/Digital Artist/Videographer.  I love being on the water when ever possible and someday I may even try my hand at fishing.   ~`6 (I do not have a boat even though my profile photo shows me on one that belongs to a friend).

Being on the water is calming and relaxing.  I'd also like to try snorkeling one day.  I do it a little in my pool, teaching myself, but there's nothing to see on the bottom of the pool.  ha ha   !!~

I would love to share some of my photos and artwork in here...and maybe if I get a chance to get back out on the water, I'll have more to share.
